Active voice and passive voice


It is said to be a sentence in active voice when the significance of the verb is produced by the grammatical person whom one relates:

Pedro de Mendoza founded Buenos Aires.

It is said that a sentence is in passive voice when the significance of the verb is received by the grammatical person whom one relates:

Buenos Aires was founded by Pedro de Mendoza.
